The True Story of Nitish Economics

The recent data released by Central Statistics Office (CSO) and Bihar economic Survey has revealed true story of Nitish Kumar’s economy with the state's GDP growth tumbling down — from a high of 15.05% in 2012-13 to an estimated 8.82% in 2013-14. Incidentally, the ebbing of growth coincides with the split in the JD(U)-BJP alliance in mid-June 2013. Three quarters later, the state's estimated growth has seen one of the steepest falls ever, according to data from Central Statistics Office (CSO). Ironically during the alliance the ministries governed by BJP ministers showed remarkable growth while that of JD (U) were the laggards’.  Energy, Rural development, Food & Consumer Protection, Home & General Administration, Industries and water management ministries have all suffered due to JDU’s minister’s misgovernance, maladministration, policy paralysis and corruption. The National Average per capita electricity consumption is 778.63 and that of Bihar is 118 kwh the lowest in the country. With peak demand of 2,642 MW in 2012-13, the installed capacity is only 440 MW in thermal power plants and 54.3 MW in hydel power and generation of just 148 MW; in 2011-12 the generation was only 38.9 MW . The state in which the general administration, home, vigilance, law and order has been personally handled by the CM Nitish Kumar from the very beginning the increase in the level of corruption in Govt. departments to an all-time high, Maoists attack on people and increase of terrorist activities in the state, leaves a lot to be explained by him. With vote bank politics, appeasement the state has become a safe breeding and hiding ground of terrorists and criminals.  Investigating agencies are finding  it difficult to crack  on  terror in the state.  With 12 out of 13 Indian Mujahideen (IM) hard core terrorist  arrested involved in serial bomb blast throughout the country, belonging to Darabhanga, Madhubani, Purnia and Samastipur the NIA has named it as the Darabhanga module. The basic trouble with this JD (U) Govt.   is that it is the same set of people who were part of the RJD regime which  imposed  jungle raj in the state and was   previously criticised by Nitish Kumar himself.
